We hired Rhino to do our front and backyard. My husband and I are really happy with how it turned out. The yard looks great now and the kids love having a place to play and hang out.

Denis did a great job and was very conscientious about the details. The weather was horrible, but he came out regardless and braved it like a trooper. Pricing was more than fair and I will definitely be using them again.
Our Services
Segmental Retaining Walls
Engineered block walls that hold back slopes and stop erosion
Straight or curved runs sized to your grade and your yard
Backfilled with drain rock so water never builds up behind the wall
We walk the slope, check the grade and where water runs, measure the wall, and help you pick the block style and color.
2
Layout & Excavation
We mark the wall line, then dig a level trench and cut the slope back so the wall sits on solid, undisturbed ground.
3
Compacted Base
We build and compact a crushed rock leveling pad. A flat, solid base is what keeps a wall from leaning or settling, so we never skip it.
4
Drainage & Backfill
We set drain rock and a drain pipe behind the wall so Pacific Northwest rain drains out instead of pushing against the blocks.
5
Setting Block & Reinforcement
We lay each course level and locked together, and add geogrid reinforcement into the soil on taller walls so they stay put for the long term.
6
Caps & Cleanup
We secure the capstones, finish the backfill and final grading, and clean up the site before we leave.

FAQ
Common questions about retaining walls
Why do retaining walls lean or fail?
Almost always weak base prep and no drainage. Water building up behind a wall is what pushes it over. We compact a proper base and build in drain rock and pipe so water has somewhere to go.
How tall can a retaining wall be?
Lower garden walls are straightforward. The taller a wall gets, the more soil and water it holds back, so above a certain height we add geogrid reinforcement, and some walls need an engineer's design or a permit. We tell you up front what your wall needs.
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall?
It depends on the height and your city or county. Shorter walls usually do not, taller ones often do. We sort this out during planning and let you know before any work starts.
What blocks do you use?
We use engineered segmental retaining wall blocks that interlock and step back slightly with each course. They come in several colors and textures, so the wall matches your home and your other hardscape.
Can a retaining wall help with drainage and erosion?
Yes. A wall built with proper drainage holds back the slope, keeps soil from washing into your yard, and moves water away from the area you want to keep dry.
How long does a retaining wall take to build?
Most residential walls take a few days to about a week depending on length, height, access, and weather. We give you a clear timeline with your quote.
