This backyard went from packed dirt to a finished lawn in a single install. We regraded the slope, ran an in-ground sprinkler system, and added a gravel drain line so water runs off instead of pooling, then laid fresh sod for full, even green the day we wrapped.
Heavy evergreen shade had thinned this lawn down to dirt, the spot where most grass gives up. After stripping the dead turf and leveling the ground, we overseeded with a shade-tolerant blend and kept feeding it until it filled in thick and even.
The tricky part here was the narrow strip between the deck and the fence, planted borders on one side and a clipped hedge on the other. We cleared and leveled the worn ground without disturbing the herb barrels, then seeded and fed it into a dense green run end to end.
By late fall this flagstone walkway and front lawn were disappearing under the leaf drop, and wet leaves on stone get slippery fast. We cleared the beds, blew off the path and steps, and hauled everything away, so the yard heads into winter clean and safe to walk.
